The Building und Open Spaces

The large cattle shed is almost entirely built of large stones and is 78 by 16 metres. This building accommodates the German-Polish Centre for International Culture (currently under construction), a multi-functional gallery, an events room and a workshop. The small cattle shed, a stone building with shaped brick gables, accommodates the rehearsal centre with it’s three rehearsal and performance stages. The sprung floor of Studio I, located under the gabled roof, is 6 by 18 metres in size. The pillared Studio II is 9 by 14 metres and the new Studio III is 10 by 13 metres. A studio for fine artists is also located in this building. The small and large cattle sheds form the southern boundary of the site. In the centre of the farmyard, there is a four-storey stone building, (formerly a storehouse), attached to a longhouse. In the past, these, along with the furnace house (now the meeting point), were used as a distillery. Today they house the kitchen, refectory, dormitories and group rooms. Essential reconstruction and renovation work is planned for these buildings and two workshop areas will also be created there. Two halls on the western side of the estate provide space for large productions. The Florian Vogelfrei Hall, with its 25 by 15 metres stage area and a working height of up to 10 metres, provides the ideal conditions for large scale productions. The former grain-drying barn, 17 by 13 metres, is right next door. The almost 100-metre-long sheep shed, on the northern edge of the estate, is badly in need of restoration. It would be an ideal space for flats, workshops and studios. There are guest rooms and meeting rooms in the farmhouse as well as administration offices and accommodation for resident artists. The farm house, with its tower, pleasure grounds, historic apiary and ice-cellar forms the eastern end of the estate. Finally, there is the park itself, with its historic ambience, creating a natural performance space between the buildings of Schloss Bröllin.
